If there’s one thing we’ve learned from our customers, it’s that lots of mothers (particularly stay-at-home moms) get teased about "sitting around all day eating bon bons". Of course, we all know that motherhood really may very well be the most difficult (and rewarding) job on earth, and that’s why we’re introducting our First Annual Bon Bon Mom of the Year Contest:

Do you have an incredibly special Mom? (Of course you do!) Does she deserve an entire year of sitting around eating bon bons after working so hard to raise you? (Without a doubt!) If so, we want to hear her story!

WHO IS ELIGIBLE:
This contest is open to everyone with a darling mother! No purchase necessary.

HERE’S HOW TO ENTER:
Write us a short letter, story, poem, or essay about a mother you know that deserves to be Bon Bon Mom of the Year. We love creativity–so humorous stories, anecdotes, videos, photos, cartoons, macaroni necklace art, or anything else you can think of to support your entry are welcome!

Entries must be submitted by Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at midnight. Limit one entry per envelope or email. South ‘n France will not be held responsible for lost, late, misdirected or illegible, incomplete entries or postage due entries, or entries that cannot be viewed/opened.

I explain to one and all that the hat is one-of-a kind, and I’d always just assumed that I would be the only one bold enough to adopt it as my standard uniform.

But I just may have unwittingly become a global trendsetter.  On a recent trip abroad, my friend, Gretchen, just happened to pass by a bakery on a bustling street in China when she had to stop for a quick double-take. Another woman with a cake on her head! I wonder how you say:  "Is that a real cake on your head?" in Chinese????
